For every 100 females there were 93.4 males. ![]() In the township the population was spread out, with 21.7% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 26.2% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 19.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.84. 25.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. There were 3,070 households, out of which 28.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.8% were married couples living together, 11.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.6% were non-families. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.45% of the population. The racial makeup of the township was 98.64% White, 0.40% African American, 0.17% Native American, 0.30% Asian, 0.05% from other races, and 0.44% from two or more races. There were 3,401 housing units at an average density of 40.9 per square mile (15.8/km 2). The population density was 92.8 inhabitants per square mile (35.8/km 2). However, on August 1, 2017, Lawrence Township supervisors voted 2 to 1 against consolidation with Clearfield. In October 2015, a Clearfield/Lawrence Township Consolidation Committee first convened to discuss a potential merger between Lawrence Township and Clearfield. Lawrence Township borders the borough of Clearfield as well. Lawrence Township borders the townships of Boggs, Bradford, Goshen, Huston, Knox, Pike and Pine in Clearfield County, as well as Benezette and Jay Townships in Elk County to the north.
